I do just a symbolic shape of norooz.
A simple performed can be used for one page of a calendar.

mesh tool more than the other tools
direct selection tool
selection tool
pen tool(so usefull for shadows)
text tool
eyedropper tool
symbols for grass
gradient tool specially for eyes
3D effect for the apples and the plate.
